Museum of the Johann Strauss Dynasty

The Museum of the Johann Strauss Dynasty is the first in the world to encompass the family background and the musical activities of the full Strauss Dynasty (Johann Strauss Father, Johann Strauss Son, Josef Strauss and Eduard Strauss). An abundance of historic materials and documents brilliantly illustrate the role which Strauss-music played in social and political affairs, from Vienna´s so-called Biedermeier era, the 1848-revolution and leading into the development period of the 1870s and 1880s when the noble Ringstrasse set the tone for expansion of the city as centre of European culture and the operetta phenomenon.
