Dear friends of Vienna,

Once again this year we would like to welcome you to the International Tourist Guide Day on February 18th, 2018. Guided tours and lectures, which will give you an insight into the occupation of an Austria Guide, will be offered free of charge. This year the event will take place in the Weltmuseum Wien, and we would be delighted to welcome you there.

International Tourist Guide Day, Sunday, 18th February, 2018

Tours and lectures will be held throughout the whole day

This year, the Internation Tourist Guide Day will be held under the motto "The World in Vienna – Vienna in the World". From 10:00 am to 4:00 pm you will have the possibility of taking part in guided tours, free of charge, in the former Museum of Ethnology, which was reopened as the Weltmuseum Wien in autumn 2017.
Tours to four different themes as well as short walks in and around the Hofburg will give you a taste of the expertise of the guides. Additionally, lectures on relevant topics will be held throughout the day in the forum of the Weltmuseum.
Several of these will be offered in » foreign languages.

Children between six and twelve years have the possibility of taking part in a special tour – on the hour – with the title Feathers – Feathers – Feathers and the Fate of the Kura Kura (in German only).

As every year, visitors to the city are also most welcome to join us.  About 150 guides will work free of charge on 18th February to give you an insight into their work and perhaps arouse your interest in further programs!

Tours for the Blind and Visually Impaired on Februry 16th, 2018

Visit the Weltmuseum Wien!

The Weltmusum, and the Association of Licensed Vienna Guides invite blind and visually impaired visitors free of charge to stroll through the comprehensive collections of the former Museum of Ethnology on Friday, 16th February from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
The extensive collection of ethnological artifacts, which was the core of the collection of the former museum, guarantees an entertaining afternoon of a different kind for young and old alike. Tactile stations, examples of music and fascinating myths and fables complement the program. Registered accompanying persons are also most welcome to discover these rich cultural treasures and get to know more about the relationship between Austria and the world around it.
A special tour for children will start a little earlier at 12:30 pm.
